Day 9 August 13th: Back on the Track

We rose early enough to make the scheduled 6:45 AM arrival of #8. It ended up being an hour late, but no care. I was able to drop the renter right at the station, making it a snap. It wasn’t the Tahoe, but the Subaru did the job. Easy to drive, hard to get into, I would give it B-. Still wouldn't buy one.

Surprising 2830 ended up being loaded right at the station, with the head end down the track. The car was 32045 “Zion Park” and it was in pretty good shape. Again, no need to use the duct tape for anything.

Derrick, our SCA, got us settled and off to breakfast we went. Hoping for the French Toast as the special, but alas I was unsatiated. I went for the pancakes and She Who Must Be Obeyed selected the Continental fruit / cereal combo. Good but not great. If you haven’t figured out yet there is no scenery between East Glacier and the Mississippi river, you need a geography class. But it is very comfortable just waiting for lunch. I had a bison bratwurst which was outstanding. Dinner was again very good with steak for me and Tilapia for her, although hers was not as good as the trip on #7.

I found it interesting that we switched from plastic to Correlle between breakfast and lunch. We asked the waiter and he said “We picked up a dishwasher at Havre.”

Too be honest, we also had become accustomed to the shrillness of Julie’s voice and appreciated the way she took care of us. Sometimes things just work out, and we appreciated her efforts.
